Subject: Re: Reasons to move forward to SAS 9.x

We're days away from implementing the upgrade from 8.2 to 9.1.3. Some of the reasons:

1. Our server is multi-processor, and 9x will use them independently to speed up sorts, etc.

2. We use PROC GENMOD, and there's a new feature in 9 that obviates the need for a macro-based workaround I developed (you can specify the reference level for a class variable - before, it always defaulted to the first value in sort order). (There's another v9 improvement we want, but I can't recall it or find my notes right now).

3. I posted last week asking if anyone had had problems moving from 8.2 to 9.1.x, and no one who responded had any issues to report.

Hope some of this helps, Steve
