Subject: A question about dimensionality

Dear List,

I'm looking for some clarification on the concept of dimensionality,

Here is my question, for a scale to be considered unidimensional does that mean that

(1) All the items load on one factor?

or

(2) Doe that mean, that there is one dimension of a particular trait (i.e.. in my case overall pregnancy experience), and this trait if made up of several constructs (body image, maternal competence, social support etc.)?

All advice is welcomed,

Ola
