Subject: Negative loading in Direct Oblimin Rotation

Hi all,

I have a problem after running a data set by factor analysis with Direct Oblimin Rotation.

Totally I have 11 variables and 3 factors are extracted. I find that in the 1st factor, all factor loadings in the pattern matrix are positive except 2 of them are negative. It is strange as I have checked the correlation between the variables, they are all positive. I can't intrepret the result.

Why did the negative factor loading occur in this case?

Thank you very much in advance.
