Hi friends,
Already too late, but better late than never, I started posting via the web
interface at http://listserv.uga.edu/archives/sas-l.html instead of via my
normal (Dutch) work address. I firstly created a webmail address (at
mail.yahoo.com), which is needed for the use of the interface. Yahoo seems
to catch quite some spam already and the rest is, just like all other
email, explicitly autoforwarded to my work address. In my sig my work
address is present in a somewhat masked way. If the amount of spam gets too
much I simply change the webmail address.
I hope it helps, but I doubt it, as I started this much too late. And I do
it only for SAS-L, because other (statistics) lists, I am subscribed to,
don't seem to distribute spam. But you never know, of course,
whether "they" just still catch your email address(es).
One important thing yet: NEVER ACTIVATE OUT-OF-OFFICE MESSAGES, WHICH ARE
GOING TO THIS OR ANY OTHER LIST OR ITS CONTRIBUTORS AS A CONSEQUENCE OF
LISTMAIL. THESE WOULD ALSO GO TO SPAM ADDRESSES, MAKING YOURSELF KNOWN TO
SPAMMERS!
Regards - Jim.
