Subject: SCL vs. Macro and AF license
There were quite some discussions on Macro vs SCL recently,
I did not follow every single of the thread, but I felt that
the debate around this is heating up, so I thought maybe I may
also throw in my 2 cent.
I was lucky to have an opportunity to play around AF and SCL for
a little while a few years ago. My impression of SCL was that it
is powerful, especially when you want some of the data structures
that is not easy to be implemented in Base SAS, such as linked
list etc. But, note this is a big **BUT**:
One has to have AF license to build SCL application. And not every
SAS user has the luxury to have AF license installed.
If SAS consider to promote SCL, I think they should separate SCL
from AF.
Kind regards,
Ya Huang
