Since this is such a frequent topic on SAS-L, I thought I would mention that Microsoft has announced that in Office 12, all Office files will now use XML as their file store. There won't be proprietary formats for each product any longer. This should simplify the often requested SAS-Office questions.

Office 12 is slated for a 2006 release as far as I know.

I will try and find out some more if people are interested.

Thanks, Alan
