I was corrected offline - the v912 excel libname engine only keeps the first 64 bytes of a label!

Dave -

If you have v9 the excel libname handles long labels and directly reads Excel data:

libname exbk excel 'test.xls'; DATA test; SET exbk.'Sheet1$'n; run; libname exbk clear;

Alphabetic List of Variables and Attributes

# Variable Type Len Label

1 long_label_line_one Num 8 long label line one 2 even_longer_yet_ Num 8 even longer yet label line two but with label_line_two_b 3 to_make_it_longer_ Num 8 to make it longer and some and_some_extra extra junk for good measure

People, When I import an excel spreadsheet with long labels. The lables truncate. Is there a way to let the length of labels? or a way to stop the trucating? Thanks Dave
