Subject: Converting 2000 Census Industry & Occupation Codes Back to 1990
              I&O Codes

I found the crosswalk, and in combination with NAICS codes have been able to get about 95% of the industries matched back, but the last few are really tough. The occupations are likely to be a nightmare.

Does anyone out there have some code for doing this sort of thing already? Is it just not possible given that some NAICS codes map to more than one SIC code and in addition, more than one NAICS code may map to a single SIC code?

(reference: http://www.macalester.edu/research/economics/PAGE/HAVEMAN/Trade.Resources/TradeConcordances.html#FromNAICS)

Thanks for any direction.

- Scott
