An oops on my part. Both Snowy Plovers are adults. Silly me.

At the Modesto Sewage Treatment Ponds (Central Valley California) this morning I had the following birds of interest: Black-bellied Plovers 200+ Snowy Plovers 2 (adult and juv) Black-necked Stilt 50 Greater Yellowlegs 8 Lesser Yellowlegs 2 Spotted Sandpiper 6 Sanderling 1 (different bird from last week) Least Sandpipers 200+ Western Sandpipers 50+ Wilson's Phalarope 500+ Red-necked Phalarope 100+ Forster's Terns 6 Caspian Terns 20

I was able to photograph the Snowy Plovers, Sanderling and Lesser Yellowlegs. I got pretty lucky with the yellowlegs as I got both Greater and Lesser standing side-by-side in a pretty decent photo. A comment about the Snowy Plovers. The juvenile bird did not ever fly. When I got too close it would flatten itself and lay down on the ground with its head down. Photos at http://www.stanislausbirds.org/Photos/rare-bird-photos.htm

Also, the Snowy Egrets have arrived in big numbers, close to 300 of them at the ponds this morning.
