I was down on a Sanibel beach last week, and I too noticed the great number of live and fresh dead Donax variabilis. Many more than I have seen the last few years. About 10 or 15 years ago they were like this on Longboat Key. So perhaps it is just a cycle thing. Whatever it is, just appreciate the beauty of the little things.
