Thanks everyone. Some good stuff there.
DBKEY looks useful, although I admit that I had ruled it out already
believing that this option was not supported for use with DB2. I see
now that it's the DBINDEX option that's not supported. I suppose the
old RT(F)M rule should be extended to RT(F)MC (where C=carefully).
And the view option looks good too.
Sadly I can't get write acess to DB2 under any circumstances (those
pesky DBAs forbid it) so I can't punt the small table onto DB2 for
joining there.
Now back to the lab...
