The CALIFORNIA GULL, first discovered on 2/20 by Steve Barlow at the south
end of Tybee I. and seen again by several observers on 2/21 has not been
seen since, although a few people have gone to look for the bird. [DeLorme:

The CACKLING GEESE in Twiggs Co. were observed as recently as 2/22. From
I16 Exit 24, take 96 S for 4.1 miles to where there is a large pond either
side of the road. Stay on the road right-of-way; do not trespass on the
land-owner's property.

Michael and Eric Beohm reported a RED-NECKED GREBE at Lake Walter F. George
on 2/19. [DeLorme: p. 48, grid G-1; Birding Georgia: p. 131] Eric also
reports that a BALTIMORE ORIOLE and PINE SISKINS have been visiting a feeder
in Griffin, Spalding Co. Eric reports that his father Richard had a
SHORT-EARED OWL in his yard around 2/1.

Josh Spence reports that he did not find a previously reported LAPLAND
LONGSPUR along Fite Bend Rd., Resaca, Gordon Co. on 2/22. He did see
800-1000 SANDHILL CRANES, as well as WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS and lots of

RED-THROATED LOONS and NORTHERN GANNETS may be easily observed off of the
north and south ends of Tybee I. (dependent upon weather and winds). Jim
Flynn and Earl Horn reported 3 PIPING PLOVERS at the south end of Tybee I.
on 2/20.
