I would also like to suggest you monitor SAS-l for some excellent discussions regarding the use of the PRX functions and call routines. In particular, David Cassell and Richard DeVenezia have offered some slick solutions using these functions to character string problems here, so pay attention to their posts. Also, be sure to check the SUGI and PharmaSUG proceedings for some Intro to Regex papers.
