The afternoon rains brought some some birds down on the Huie ponds in Clayton Co. today. I was there in pouring rain 5-6pm. I'm convinced that those ponds have their own weather system--it wasn't pouring anywhere else in the area. The ducks have left town, except of course the Mallards and Wood Ducks. I had a female Hooded Merganser yesterday, but not today.
Huie-northeast pond:
Greater Yellowlegs-23
Lesser Yellowlegs-6
Solitary Sandpiper-7
Spotted Sandpiper-5
Least Sandpiper-7
Pectoral Sandpiper-2
The large group of GRYE was very skittish, but still circling when I left.
