Subject: Golden eagle

Yesterday after a day of birding at the International Horse Park (including a brief look at the Bell's vireo Eric Boehm reported-- Congratulations, Eric!), Peter and I drove down Glenn St. for a quick look at the surrounding area. As we rounded a curve by the pond (about 1/4 mile east of Old Covington Hwy), we saw a GOLDEN EAGLE lift from the ground and fly into the woods. We didn't get a great look at it or see it again (despite waiting and searching), but as we walked the area, we saw that it had been sitting on a dead dog by the side of the road. Without a doubt the biggest bird I've ever seen. Patty Jenkins
