Mike,

One more thing. I have sought to be be as transparent as possible about my motives. So, let me say once again what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to help SAS professionals know more about what I think they already know. The programming constructs, statements, functions, operators, delimiters etc that they know so well from the datastep are perfectly capable of replacing the Macro Language in the context of the SAS Component Language programming environment. As they need is a slight adjustment in their theory of "how SAS works" and mastery of a handful of functions that only exists in SAS Component Language some of which are available through %sysfunct.. The return for this minor investment is freedom from all the Macro Language headaches so well documented in the SAS-L archives.
