Ben:

Speaking to SAS tech support, they basically said the same thing, as there are no known issues between SAS and Oracle 10g.

They are such common companion products that if there was a problem between the two, it would likely be documented somewhere, especially considering that SAS v9.1.3 and Oracle 10g have been out for a while.

As you note below, SAS TS suggested running an app with the diagnostics (SASTRACE, FULLSTIMER) on and sending them the SASLOG. I'll try this later today.

We quelled a good number of the SAS jobs yesterday, along with ad hoc stuff (SAS), and there are still issues. Other users are also reporting problems, ie: MS-ACCESS connections, etc , not just SAS (SAS is the largest group).

Oracle RAC is failing on both memory and CPU. This is a 4 node cluster, Windows 2003 AS, each node has 6 or 8 gigabytes of memory, I don't remember exactly (more memory is being added) running on Dell 6800 class machines, so there is plenty of horsepower. According to server support, the machines aren't overtaxed.

Thank you for your note, and I apologize for not responding sooner.

-Gerry

Bringing this thread to the top:

The SAS program code is unlikely to be a cause but it could be:-

a) the method used for SAS to connect to 10g, or b) the installation of 10g itself

Of the two I would say the former is more simple to check and rule out (on this list)...

How is the Oracle RAC failing? Memory / CPU / i/o ?

Rgds.
