Subject: E.L. Huie 3/11/07 - Tree Swallows and vultures

My wife and I birded E.L. Huie yesterday. There are still quite a few
vultures hanging out at the ponds. We saw close to 30 Black Vultures
sitting on one bank when we arrived. A group of three were in no hurry to
get out of our way as we drove down the gravel road. We also saw 5-6 Turkey
Vultures circling overhead. In addition to the vultures, we saw lots of
Tree Swallows buzzing the ponds.
One other cool thing we saw was a Kingfisher beating his lunch into
submission on a standpipe. I took some very low quality video of it and you
can check it out here:

Other species spotted:
Eastern Meadowlark
American Coot
Bufflehead
Canada Goose
Gadwall
N. Shoveler
Green-winged Teal
Eastern Bluebird
Hooded Merganser
Mallard Duck
Killdeer
