Saturday I went to Huie Saturday morning and the following were at the ponds: 2 Wood Ducks, 21 Green-winged Teals, 19 Northern Shovelers, 3 Gadwalls, 1 female Bufflehead, 7 Hooded Mergansers and 2 Ruddy Ducks. Other birds of interest were one American Pipit, 22 Least Sandpipers and 1 Brewer's Blackbird among a few Red-winged Blackbirds feeding in the northeastern pond. At the Atlanta Motor Speedway I saw 4 American Pipits and 1 Horned Lark in breeding plumage. Some of the parking lots are now fenced in.

Sunday Hugh Garrett and I birded Douglas, South Fulton, Fayette and Clayton County. Sweetwater Creek State Park - Douglas County - a small raft of ducks was slightly different from the ducks reported by Jim Flynn the day before: 1 Green-winged Teal, 1 male Blue-winged Teal, 1 male American Wigeon, 1 Lesser Scaup, 34 Buffleheads, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers and 1 Ruddy Duck. Four Double-crested Cormorants and 1 Ring-billed Gull were also around the raft. One Lesser Yellowlegs and 4 Wild Turkeys were at the Patterson Farm off GA 166 (Douglas County) Peachtree City Lake - Fayette County - 3 Horned Grebes. Lake Horton - Fayette County - 5 Blue-winged Teals, 8 Lesser Scaups, 6 Buffleheads, 125+ Ruddy Ducks, and 18 Bonaparte's Gulls. Huie - Clayton County - same ducks as the day before but in lesser numbers . Only 3 Least Sandpipers and no other shorebirds except for a few Killdeers.

Good birding Patrick Brisse Tucker Dekalb County
