Ben ,
Look at either
SASHELP.VCOLUMN
Or
Dictionary.Columns
Your can find the variable name as well as NPos or VarNum vaiables to
help you get the prder you wish.

Subject: Extract variable order from dictionary tables?

Dear list
How would I extract current variable order? From dictionary tables? I
would
like to be able to apply this original variable arrangement (for export
to
reports for viewing) to subsequent datasets that are not subsets or to
ODS
prints.
Any comments much appreciated.
Rgds.
