Following the directions from Ken Blankenship's web site, I went looking for the Blue Winged Warblers today. I spent more time at the Cagle Road Site. Many Warblers were singing. The place was loaded with Prairie Warblers. They were singing from the tops of the trees. I never heard a Blue Winged Warbler sing. But I do believe I saw one but didn't get a decent picture. I didn't go very far past the creek which is now dried up. It was very hot and I didn't go past the curve. I went to the Mashburn Road area and again many Prairie warblers and Pine Warblers. Yellow Breated Chats were doing their thing but the only ones I saw were far away. It didn't help that a guy came out of the area on his 4 wheeler. I thought the sign said no moterized vehicles. Anyway, I then went to the Carter Dam area. Starting on Powerhouse Road. A lot of the Tree Swallow Boxes were full of young birds. You could hear them everywhere. A pair of Eastern Kingbirds were working along the lake side. My best find was a Male & Female Orchard Oriole. I didn't know they were in this area. Indigo Buntings were also singing everywhere. I won't give up on the Blue Winged Warbler. I'll try these spots again next week. Hope everyone had a good day of birding.
Have a Blessed evening
