Subject: AAS Field trip Friday October 10/5
GABOers,
Becky Valentine, Cheryl Kanes, and I will host an Atlanta Audubon
walk to Carters Lake. We are also delighted that Max Medley will
be able to walk along with us and share information about birds, plants
and the area in general which he knows so well. This will take place
on Friday October 5th.We will meet at the Hidden Pond Songbird
Trail Next to the Re-regulationDam at 9 AM. We will bird several
locations around the area. Directions and more information
may be found on www.atlantaaudubon.org or the October issue of
"Wingbars". Detailed information and photos of the area can be found
at www.wingsoverga.com. Carter's Lake has been a host to some great
warbler species, vireos and some even some rarities like the South Polar
Skua, Red Necked Grebe, Black-Throated Gray Warbler and Avocets
in the past year. No guarantees that something like that will show up but
any fall day birding in this part of the state is always a treat. Remember
AAS walks are free, all skill levels are welcome and membership in
AAS is not required, but certainly encouraged.
