Subject: Best way to code states
Comments: To: sas-l@uga.edu

I have a file contains state information, prior to convert all other variables into numeric (the file was readed into SAS in text format), I need to re-code it by using a dummy variale. What will be the best way to code as many as 45 states name? It will be too much work if I code them by using 0 and 1 ? Thank you!
