Subject: Golden Eagle in Spalding County 02/21/08
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Thought I would mention that I saw an adult GOLDEN EAGLE over my yard here in Spalding County (Piedmont Region) yesterday 2/21/08. The bird was also seen by Rose and Richard Beohm and I attempted a couple far off photos. Always a stunning sight, and this one came so close to us that it was almost frightful and beautiful at the same time.

I've had Golden Eagle in my yard before. The first one was about four years ago and stayed for a couple days around the yard and was seen by many observers. I've had two other sightings right near here and several other sightings in this area of the state over the last five years. Look for them in association with Turkey Vultures and don't discount lakes because of habitat and the similar Bald Eagle. I've seen Golden Eagle at Lake Juliette, West Point Lake, and Lake W.F.G (twenty plus years ago and still quite memorable).

Good Birding,

Eric Beohm Griffin, GA
