Paula,

Maybe not now, but who knows, you and other "certifiables" like Bob will find yourselves competing for a job in the future. If all your resumes point to a comparable or dead-even experience, education, skills, etc., being a SAS certified professional will give you an edge over Bob and others who aren't certified. If I were the one deciding who to pick for the job, I'll pick you!

"Attract the brightest, retain the best." That's what certification is all about in the eyes of the hiring employer.

Of course, those who aren't certified tend to think that certification is not that important.
