Here at home we saw our first Eastern Kingbird tonight. We've been having 2 male Indigo Buntings singing in the yard. Last weekend I heard the Yellow-billed Cuckoo again.

A story from Destin: we had seen several Loggerhead Shrike on the golf courses and I was watching one in our yard spreading its wings and flying back and forth from the small tree above it. I thought it was a fledgling. Then I spotted a snake under the tree! I went outside to check out the snake - very dark with a blunt nose. Husband joined me - neither of us had ever seen this snake. Suddenly it flared up like a Cobra - wow! It was a Hognose snake ... photos of the episode can be found below:
