Subject: SAS 9.2 Installation and Stability
Comments: To: sas-l@uga.edu

Some time this summer somebody asked for comments about possible problems with installation / use of SAS 9.2. (I think it was Ron, but I am not sure).

I shall now share some of my experiencies.

I manage a small group of SAS users (6 PC installations on WinXP) but with varying selections of modules.

The electronic download procedure works like a dream, but the implicit assumption in the installation wizard is that all users should install all modules from the downloaded repository. Unless you use an (at the time of my download , May 2008) undocumented feature you are not able to do any type of customised installation.

However, on questioning, SI informed me that I, from a command prompt line, with the command "setup.exe -prompt" get access to a more flexible version of the Wizard.

In my setup the "Universial Viewer" results in a Windows error, so I never get an opportunity to find out what the problem was.
