OpenVMS is the operating system for the Dec VAX Alpha; its been years since I programmed in SAS on a VAX (though I did so for 10 years), so I'm not sure what they mean by the "Integrity Environment."

Subject: Numeric Precision
hi ... OK, maybe someone can help (yes, it's a real picky point)... V9.2 online help has a table
under ...
Numeric Variables in the OpenVMS Integrity Environment
Largest Integer Represented Exactly ...
3: 8,191
4: 2,097,151
5: 536,870,911
6: 137,438,953,471
7: 35,184,372,088,831
8: 9,007,199,254,740,991
that differs from the table shown in V9.2 online help under ...
Numeric Variable Length and Precision in UNIX Environments
and ...
Significant Digits and Largest Integer by Length for SAS Variables under Windows
Largest Integer Represented Exactly ...
3: 8,192
4: 2,097,152
5: 536,870,912
6: 137,438,953,472
7: 35,184,372,088,832
8: 9,007,199,254,740,992
question ... what exactly is the OPENVMS Integrity Environment ... I always thought that there
were only two aspects to this issue: the IBM mainframe versus the rest of the world
thanks
