Subject: Wood Stork not seen today at Lake Acworth
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
I met Chuck Saleeby, Pierre Howard and Jim Flynn at Lake Acworth at
lunchtime today to look for the Wood Stork. Unfortunately we did not
relocate the bird today but we had a good assortment of shorebirds.
Nothing rare but a good number of birds on the mud, visible from Acworth
Beach.
Here is a quick list:
Killdeer 10
Pectoral Sandpiper 16
Semipalmated Plover 4
Least Sandpiper 25
Semipalmated Sandpiper 5
Western Sandpiper 1
We also had;
Caspian Tern 3
Great Egret 10
Great Blue Heron 8
Green Heron 1
Northern Shoveler 3
Osprey 1
Black Vulture 1
Conditions are great for shorebirds right now since they dropped the level
of the lake to do a shore cleanup this weekend.
