Ya,

Sorry, I wrote too soon. I thought the V6 file had been opened successfully. What I actually saw, was a list with the # of obs & vars. When I clicked on the list to open the data set, the Universal Viewer displayed the data set's variable details and an error message, but failed to display the data set's data.

Ya,

I used 9.2 to create a V6 data set. When I used the Universal Viewer to open the V6 data set, I saw the 'initializing ...' message, but the data set was opened successfully.

Hi there,

V9.2 package come with a SAS Universal Viewer, I tried to use it to open v8 datasets (*.sas7bdat), it worked fine. But when I tried to open v6 dataset (*.sd2), it stuck at 'initializing ...'.

Has anyone successfully open sd2 file with this new viewer?

The old SAS Viewer 9.1 works fine for both *.sas7bdat and *.sd2.

Thanks

Ya
