Subject: Long-tailed ducks at Merry Brothers / Phinizy (2/1/09)
The two female LONG-TAILED DUCKS remain at the Merry Brother's brickyard ponds as of Sunday
2/1/09. They were foraging in the pond on the north side of I-520, where Mining Haul Road passes
underneath the interstate. These birds spent most of their time underwater - a quick scan of the
pond could miss them.
Other highlights were CANVASBACK (16), and HORNED GREBE (1).
The same day at Phinizy, the lone male LONG-TAILED DUCK was foraging in the settling pond with a
large group of RING-NECKED DUCKS.
