Subject: North Georgia Mountains 5/24/09
Hi All,
Patty McLean requested a post to GABO-L of some of today's results of the
trip that she and Kathy Miller are on in the north Georgia mountains this
holiday weekend.
Patty and Kathy saw RED CROSSBILLS today at Mr. Kilby's residence at 5886
Persimmon, near Clayton, at around 9:00am this morning! Patty reports
that Mr. Kilby says that birders are welcome to pull in the drive and
watch. They had 5+ on the black feeder to the left of the front entry to
his house. Also they heard Pine Siskins! This where Bob Cheek and I
heard Red Crossbills and saw a Pine Siskin yesterday!
Patty says that folks going for the crossbills might want to bird the
Dillard area as they had several WILLOW FLYCATCHERS behind the car wash
just north of the Piggly Wiggly on 441. Also LEAST FLYCATCHERS were seen
near Sky Valley, per Wings Over Georgia directions to the intersection of
Bald Mountain Road and Hale Ridge Road!
Good Birding All!
Mark
