SAS Learner, besides the good advice that you get from this list, you should consider getting advice from the people who wrote the book on SAS Enterprise Guide: Susan Slaughter and Laura Delwiche. The authors of the ubiquitous Little SAS Book have written a new edition of their EG book:
The Little SAS Book for Enterprise Guide 4.1
