I believe that IML Studio is the best approach available at this
time. Some folks have explored the use of ODBC and other means
to transfer data. However, none of the other approaches which I
have seen currently allow you to execute both SAS and R code
from within a common application. That, to me, is the main
benefit of IML Studio.
I just gave a presentation on the use of IML Studio for executing
R code from SAS. If you would like the slides from my Powerpoint
presentation, I could send them to you. I don't find the SAS
documentation of IML Studio to be really well organized. I think
my Powerpoint presentation is better at introducing some of the
topics which are new with IML Studio.
