Dear Graduate Students,

It is my strong belief that graduate education builds a foundation for leadership. At the University of Georgia, I believe we are educating and preparing you to be our next generation of citizens, scholars, and leaders. My goal is to provide you with a leadership program in which you can gain a better understanding of your leadership skills and enhance your knowledge of what it means to be a leader.

The Graduate School’s Emerging Leaders Program was developed to meet this goal. This is a two-day intensive program that assists graduate students in strengthening their personal leadership capabilities, exploring professional development opportunities, and interacting with their colleagues from across campus. It is designed for students who plan to complete their degree in at least the next two years. The full program description and application information can be found at http://www.grad.uga.edu/academics/description.pdf.

If the Emerging Leaders Program would help you to reach your career goals and you meet the requirements, please contact your graduate coordinator and provide the application form (http://www.grad.uga.edu/academics/emerging_leaders.pdf) and other information needed to complete the nomination process. This program is offered at no cost to you except for the time you commit for your own professional development and transportation to Unicoi Lodge in Helen, Georgia. The program begins on Thursday afternoon, October 28, and continues through Saturday afternoon, October 30.

The program description and application form for the Emerging Leaders program are on the Graduate School website, http://www.grad.uga.edu/academics/emerging.html. Nomination packets must be received from the Graduate Coordinators by *5 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010*.

If you have questions not answered on the website, please email Judy Milton at jmilton@uga.edu.

Thank you for your interest!

Maureen Grasso Dean of the Graduate School
