OK, I actually got up the nerve to ask my SAS Administrator if I might have EG, and he installed it for me today! So I tried doing a straight proc print,
Here was my code:
data test;
infile cards missover;
input x;
cards;
001
002
003
;
run;
proc print data=test;
run;
and it did all this:
1 ;*';*";*/;quit;run;
2 OPTIONS PAGENO=MIN;
3 %LET _CLIENTTASKLABEL=%NRBQUOTE(Code);
4 %LET _EGTASKLABEL=%NRBQUOTE(Code);
5 %LET _CLIENTPROJECTNAME=%NRBQUOTE();
6 %LET _SASPROGRAMFILE=;

Note that I did ***not*** ask EG to give me HTML. So this is one thing right away that a developer would not like- anyway this developer does not like it- I want exactly what was asked for, I **** don't ***** want EG to try to think up something else to give me!
So my first test made me feel a bit out of control in this environment, and I really didn't like that. Will try to see if one can turn this stuff off, but until SAS lets you turn it off, I want to keep my DM (which I still have).

Exactly what I what to see.
Developers to me are developers. Those who have no bugs cast the first
stone.

Alan,
I see it as a positive thingy, Id frame it as what we users want in an
editor. That way we can compile a list of things and let SAS worry how to
implement it all. While I know EG would be bantered about it would in
essence try to tone down the hard feelings between the pro Eg'ers and the
Anti-EG'ers...
