Spring migration is just around the corner and some early birds are already being noted. And I haven't seen a crane in about a week...

In the meantime, there is an important opportunity for Georgia's birding organizations to make their voices heard for conservation. As many of you realize, the USFWS State Wildlife Grants Program is critical for funding DNR's Nongame Conservation Section, which implements a variety of research and management programs to help conserve native biodiversity. Funding for the SWG program is eliminated in the Continuing Resolution that recently passed the US House of Representatives. The Senate will be acting on this measure soon and there is a chance that some funding can be restored if our senators hear a strong message.

It would be great if an official representative of each birding organization in Georgia ( http://www.gos.org/local-ga-orgs.html ) would consider participating in the sign-on at: http://www.teaming.com/

Please note: The deadline to sign-on is March 9 (Wednesday)

Thank You!
