Five happy birders accompanied Lloyd "Pappy" Snyder to Piedmont NWR Sunday.
It was a beautiful day and the birding was great. Within the 68 species
reported, we had good looks at both "target" birds--Bachman's Sparrow and
Red-cockaded Woodpecker. We also saw a fly-over Mississippi Kite, among many
other great looks at a variety of species. I was surprised how many birds
are still singing their hearts out, including the Bachman's Sparrow and most
of the wood-warblers.
