Allison and I had 4 RED CROSSBILLs (2 male, 2 female) this morning
(5/30/2011) at Pine Log WMA in Bartow County. We parked at the main
entrance near the check-in station and walked past the closed gate and
down Grassy Hollow Rd. Just past Davis Branch (a small creek) is where
we found the Crossbills. They were moving around between the pines on
both sides of the road. Approximate GPS location: 34.262578,-84.678611.
The last time Red Crossbills were reported at Pine Log on ebird was in
February 2006. The bar chart data for Pine Log is rather sparse, so if
you go, please post your observations on ebird!
