Greetings!

Next week is International Education Week, and ISL is holding several internationally focused events along with other departments, offices, and student organizations at UGA. Please review the attached flyer for all IEW events, as well as visiting http://oie.uga.edu/iew/index.htm for more information and a complete event listing.

Below are a selected sampling of events sponsored by ISL and ISL student organizations. We hope to see you next week!

Sunday, November 13th, 2011: Miss International Pageant, 6:00 p.m. at UGA Chapel. Ticket Price: $5 students; $7 non-students. Tickets available at the door. The Miss International Pageant is not a typical beauty pageant! A diverse set of contestants will demonstrate the uniqueness of their culture and teach others about their heritage through speech, traditional wear, and talent. The theme for this year’s pageant is The Beauty of a Culture Through the Eyes of a Queen. Each contestant is given the opportunity to present the beauty of their heritage from their own perspective. Monday, November 14th, 2011: 12th Annual Thanksgiving Feast, 6:30 p.m. at Athens First United Methodist Church - Hancock Hall. This FREE event is open to all international students and their families. Sponsored by Athens First United Methodist Church, the International Student Life Office at UGA, and The UGA Wesley Foundation. Tuesday, November 15th, 2011: World Fest, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Tate Plaza. This FREE event is open to all! World Fest is an international event aimed at providing UGA students and the Athens community with a cultural experience through displays, performances, cultural crafts, and more! World Fest is sponsored by the World Ambassadors student organization and the International Student Life Office at UGA. Wednesday, November 16th, 2011: International Dessert Reception, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., 2nd Floor Lobby of Memorial Hall (beneath the International Student Life Office). FREE and open to all! Try desserts from around the world while mingling with international students and ISL staff! Hosted by International Student Life and the World Ambassadors student organization. Friday, November 18th, 2011: International Coffee Hour, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Memorial Hall Ballroom. FREE and open to all! Mingle with faculty, staff, students, and community members while enjoying international snacks, coffee, and lemonade. The Office of International Education will be hosting this Coffee Hour event and will be holding a photo contest. Come view photos taken by students in various locations around the world and vote on your favorite photo! Sponsored by International Student Life and the Office of International Education.
