We spent a couple of hours stalking the GTTO late this afternoon. After
about an hour and a half, I heard it 'mew' twice but never saw it!!! It
sounded as if it was in the dead weeds atop the dirt pile near the road in
the area of the tin storage building.
If you've been to look for this little guy, you know it's quite a birdy
area. I saw a flock of about 50 AMERICAN PIPITS over the planted field and
at least 10-12 fine little WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS. WCSPs are probably my
favorite sparrow, and I hadn't seen so many in a long time. They were
feeding in the low grass on the road side and perching in the trees in the
hedgerow by the planted field.
