Subject: Fox Sparrow banded at Panola Mtn - Rockdale County
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi folks, This is only the 2nd Fox Sparrow I've banded in Georgia  Gorgeous hatch year bird.  The sparrows are mostly hangin east of the banding area, where the wetland is.  I think this is because we are a year behind in the fire regime and the structure around the banding station is too thick and heavy.  They roost there, but  don't forage there.  We've been watching them pour out every morning, and not come back while we are around. Not sure what happened to the vulture roost.  The last 2 banding sessions are the only times in 5 years that we did not see vultures (usually hundreds) roosting right around the station.
