I have never seen this problem. However, I see many
repetitions of GET TRANSLATE, EXECUTE, SAVE EXECUTE in the left
panel.
Are you working with a lot of input files?

perhaps Windows has burped over so many files active at once.

I do not recall whether GET TRANSLATE needs a command that forced
a data pass. SAVE is definitely a procedure so the execute are
unnecessary.

Try this while you are waiting for more definitive responses on
the list.
exit SPSS
reboot
start SPSS.
bring in your syntax.
remove the executes.
run a few of the get translates with saves.
see if you are creating a few data sets.
see if you are creating a few disk files.
Does the problem occur when you only do a few of the input files?
Does the problem occur with other syntax?

I thought there was a DOS command to close a file that you could
use with a HOST command after a SAVE, but can't recall it.

There are command extensions for dealing with many files, if you
describe what you are trying to do list members might be able to
suggest a workaround.

I have installed v19 and both patches, I am running on Win 7 32bit. I have
reinstalled twice and the same problem occurs. I have also reinstalled java.
Below are 2 imgs of a syntax file (data files also do not appear correct),
the syntax exists but is not readily visible, as I move my cursor down
random characters appear but not the entire line, mousing over the menu bar
options appear and disappear, and random characters appear on my screen as
is apparent in the img. Any suggestions/fixes?
Thanks for any and all input!!!
