  If you install from CD the map data sets are uncompressed, if you install
from floppy they are compressed.

It turns out that they are in a compressed format, and that they can be
uncompressed using the SAS/Graph Map Data Set Utility item under the
Help/Utility menu.  Not having installed the software, I am not sure
whether the map data are automatically installed in a compressed format,
or whether you have the option to do so.
