If you install from CD the map data sets are uncompressed, if you install from floppy they are compressed.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about the SAS map datasets. It turns out that they are in a compressed format, and that they can be uncompressed using the SAS/Graph Map Data Set Utility item under the Help/Utility menu. Not having installed the software, I am not sure whether the map data are automatically installed in a compressed format, or whether you have the option to do so.
