Hi!

I would like to unreservedly recommend SAS for OS/2. I use it every day and can say, without any doubt in my mind whatsoever, that it very simply the best computational package on the market today on OS/2! Indeed, I agree with SAS Institute that OS/2 and SAS are **the** perfect team.

I cannot think of any other application, of the same functionality and flexibility, that exploits Intel hardware to the same extent that this team does. Sure, there are remains some room to improve, but SAS has pushed the proverbial 'performance envelope' the furtheset on all fronts: e.g. stability, speed, memory usage, multi-tasking, etc etc.

I await SAS for Win 95 to go production before conducting a definitive shootout between NT, 95 and OS/2. I can tell you this, thus far, SAS for OS/2 kicks butt! I do my tests on the very same pee cee to control for differences in hardware, manufacturers etc. Unix (different architecture etc) beats OS/2, but is more complex to handle for mere mortals. SAS on the Mac is comparable to SAS for Windows 3.x, for me anyway.

ps: I do not mean to ignite OS wars, just giving **my** opinion. ---------------------------------------------------------------- From: jgarfi@THE-SPA.COM Subject: Re: Win SAS on OS/2 ??? To: Multiple recipients of list SAS-L <SAS-L@uga.cc.uga.edu>

I am sorry for jumping in here but I am using SPSS for windows and I want to use a native OS/2 statistical program and I was wondering about SAS for OS/2. Cost, effectiveness and any information on how it compares to SPSS would be appreciated.

SPSS is not planning any upgrades and I want to use OS/2 programs if at all possible. So any help in the functionality of SAS's OS/2 products may allow me to use an OS/2 version.

Thanks in advance
