I need your help. Someone serveyed about life-style on two type - 7-point category scale and 6-point category scale. He wants to separate the response into two category, and he has a prablem how 7-point sclaing data is transformed. He wants to know the formular and the scientific base of that. He asked me this, and I think the formular is the following.

D1 * 6/7 + 0.43

(D1 = variable of 7-point category scaled data)

But the value '4' is a problem, and above formular is not complete. So I ask your help.

Contents of Data are the following.

data1(6-point) +-----+-----+------+------+------+ negative <-- | --> affirmative

data2(7-point) +-----+-----+------+------+------+------+ negtive <--| so so |--> affirmative

* Variable = 189 * Observation = 6000
