I learned from others on this list (Thanks!) the proc mixed does this type
of problem. The regular manuals are useless, however. The publication
"Getting started with Proc Mixed" (SAS Institute) is much better. See
page 125 for a discussion of time-varying covariates. The trick is
restructuring the data "into one long response variable Y."
