It was just revealed at our users' group meeting that there is now a validated
option for datasets that SAS presumably uses to keep track of the validity of
the sortedby option. Nobody seemed to know when if ever SAS checks it. Maybe
this is a case? Or maybe as you suggest, it's just not sorted right, sortedby or
not.
