we replaced our MIS with a VAX/ALPHA workstation with 120+ plus
processes, 15,000,000 records in an RDB database with several dozen
SAS and fortran processes running and it runs fast and smooth.
I believe the box with about 20 gig of storage ran us about $65,000
with all licenses. DEC makes a great machine for the price and if
you MUST have NT the Alpha will run it.
