Subject:   Re: Platform for SAS

: > : > Dom.To my expierience, NT is NOT GOOD platform, if you have to run several : (means more than one) SAS programs at the same time. Under Win NT 3.51 : and SAS 6.09 for NT in Compaq server the first SAS takes all memory and : all CPU and the next SAS has to wait until the first stops or (more than : once) both SAS tasks hangs up. UNIX must be better!

: Juha Kari SAS6.11 (Wave 2) seems to work fine (course I'm running a dual processor, 90MHz, 80MB memory system) on NT3.51 (SP4). The choice of platform is a very murky issue to decide and has spawned more jihads within organizations than I would care to count. We use SAS on both RISC (UNIX) and Intel (NT) platforms with the choices being made by the analysts involved. One of the really nice things about SAS is that it is pretty much platform independent and will let you do get away with this without becoming a logistical nightmare.

As always, just my thoughts and your mileage will certainly vary.....
